Novchomok Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Along the Novchomok stream, Zarafshan Range. E.G. Fedorov et al. in 1988 (1991f.) from the composition of deposits previously attributed to the Upper Ordovician-Lower and Middle Devonian.
Synonym: Novchomok Suite, Новомокская св., Novomok Fm
Lithology and Thickness
Crinoid-detrital, detrital-nodular, clayey limestones with nodules of brown siliceous-carbonate material, lenses and interlayers of cherts, calcareous-clayey silicites, brown, reddish siliceous and calcareous claystone (argillites). At the base, sometimes basal limestone conglomerates. Thickness 45m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Conformably overlies, with a gradual transition, the Yatavlyuk Fm (Akbasy Fm)
Upper contact
Overlain transgressively with structural unconformity by the Darakhtisurkh Fm or Malguzor Fm.

In limestones, conodonts - *Siphonodella cf. sulcata* (Huddle), *Pseudopolygnathus primus* Bran. et Mehl., *Scaliognathus cf. anchoralis* Lanc. and others of the Tournaisian stage; *Palmatolepis gracilis gracilis* Brans. et Mehl., *Siphonodella cf. sulcata* (Huddle), *S. duplicata* (Brans. et Mehl.) and others of the Late Famennian-Tournaisian age; foraminifers - *Quasiendothyra* sp., *Konensis globiformis* Reitl., rugose corals *Keyserlingophyllum* sp. ind., *Caninia* sp. and others; tabulate corals - *Syringopora cf. ramulosa* Goldt. and others of Tournaisian-Visean age.
